You should not go walking around the school.
You can park in the lower lot by the Auditorium.

If you are paying that day, please pay with cash or money order.
The following dress code is in effect for all graduating seniors:
Neat garments consisting of a collared shirt, tie, dress slacks, dress shoes, dresses, skirt/blouse, skorts should be worn.
NO jeans, shorts, T-shirts, uncollared shirts, bathing suits, sneakers, flip-flops, etc.
Failure to comply with these rules of personal attire may result in exclusion from the ceremony.

The AHS Guidance Department website has a section devoted to “Redbird Graduation 2023”. This will include Graduation assembly powerpoint and handouts.
On Thursday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m., the “Let’s Talk” program on WBGZ radio will focus on the AHS Graduation.
Tell your parents to listen for all-calls or email blasts with more information.
Information for Graduates
Arrive at AHS dressed appropriately for the ceremony. (Dress Code on separate page)
Arrive between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. – please be on time.
Park in the front of the school and enter through the doors by the flag poles.
Report to your classroom and check in with your teacher.
Listen to instructions from your teacher and line up at the appropriate time.
Follow the teacher as the class merges into the line with the other classes.
Stay in the line as you move through the halls.
Have your picture taken from our photographer.
Be patient in line as it will take a while for the photographers to take photos.
The line will move into the Auditorium/Gymnasium lobby at approximately 6:50.
As you enter the gym, your teacher will stop at the doorway. Mrs. Franke will signal for your class to walk to her and you will march in with the class from the other doorway.
When you get to your row, walk to the seat with your name on it.
Remain standing until the class is directed to sit down together.
Be respectful throughout the ceremony.
When the time comes to go across the stage, follow the directions of the Junior Marshalls.
When you get to the stage, make sure that you hear YOUR name before you start to walk across.
You will shake hands with several people as you go across.
Receive your diploma cover in your left hand as you shake hands with a board member.
You will exit the stage from the front and return to your seat.
Move your tassel to the left side as you return to your seat.
Once you are back in your set, remove your tassel and put it in your pocket as a souvenir.
When the time comes for the class to be presented to the alumni, you may throw your hat in the air – just throw it up a little bit, so that it comes right back to you. You will not be able to move out of the area of your seat to go and get it, so don’t throw it too far. Your family will want you to have it for photos later.
Follow the recessional out of the gym and back to the classroom that you were in before the ceremony.
Pick up your items from the teacher in your classroom before going to celebrate with classmates, family and friends.
Parking: You may park in any of the spots in the AHS parking lots. Additional parking is available in the Heartland Baptist Church parking lot and at the Athletic Complex on the north side of campus. There will be shuttle buses to take guests from the church and Athletic Complex to the Auditorium/Gymnasium entrance and to the entrance to the Commons. The shuttle will stop running to the Auditorium/Gymnasium entrance at 6:50. Parking on Humbert Road is prohibited.
Seating: Please arrive early and allow time for parking before entering the school. The lot will be crowded, so you will need to consider the time to walk into the doors. The doors for all of the locations will be opened at 5:30 p.m. to allow the spectators to start to enter. All seats are on a first come, first serve basis. The doors to the Auditorium/Gymnasium entrance will be closed at 6:50 p.m. After this time, no one will be allowed into these locations and they will have to walk around the outside of the building to the Commons to view the ceremony.
If you plan to watch the graduation ceremony in the:
Gymnasium: You must have a ticket and you must be in the gymnasium and seated by 6:50 p.m. You should enter through the Auditorium/Gymnasium entrance.
Auditorium: A live video feed will be shown on the screen in the Auditorium. You do not need a ticket for this, but it typically fills up fast. You should enter through the Auditorium/ Gymnasium entrance. These seats cannot be saved and once the room is filled, no one else will be allowed to enter. You must be seated by 6:50 p.m.
Commons: A live video feed will be shown on the screen in the Commons. You do not need a ticket for this location. You should enter through the doors next to the Commons in the front of the school.
Expectations for family and friends attending the graduation ceremony
Unauthorized personnel are prohibited from being on the Gym floor.
Air horns, noise makers, balloons and gifts may NOT be brought into the ceremony.
Smoking is strictly prohibited on the Alton High School campus.
The families and friends can meet their graduates after they return to the classrooms to get their belongings.
Any person found in violation of the expectations listed above will be removed from the ceremony. Your cooperation regarding these matters is greatly appreciated. It is our goal for all graduates and their guests to have a great experience at Graduation.
